Anti-Scratch Masterbatches

Overview

Anti-scratch Masterbatches are functional additives formulated to enhance the surface durability of plastics, protecting them from scratches, abrasions, and marring during handling, processing, or end-use. These masterbatches are widely used in industries where aesthetics, longevity, and premium surface finish are critical, such as automotive, electronics, appliances, and packaging.

Physical & Chemical Properties

  • Active Ingredients: Silica-based, mineral fillers, or polymeric dispersions engineered for scratch resistance.
  • Carrier Resin: PE, PP, PET, ABS, PS or universal carriers compatible with most polymers.
  • Appearance: Free-flowing white or translucent granules.
  • Surface Effect: Provides micro-scale hardness and abrasion resistance on the final product surface.
  • Thermal Stability: Compatible with processing temperatures up to 300 °C.
  • Durability: Long-lasting protection throughout product life without affecting flexibility or transparency (for clear grades).

Applications

  • Automotive Interiors & Exteriors: Dashboards, panels, trims, bumpers, and covers.
  • Electronics & Appliances: TV screens, smartphones, remote controls, and household appliances.
  • Packaging: Transparent rigid containers, cosmetic packaging, and luxury products.
  • Furniture & Consumer Goods: Outdoor and indoor items requiring scratch-resistant surfaces.
  • Industrial Components: Protective covers, housings, and equipment panels.

Processing Techniques

  • Injection Molding – automotive parts, electronics, and appliance housings.
  • Extrusion – sheets, profiles, and panels.
  • Blow Molding – bottles, containers, and protective housings.
  • Film Extrusion (for anti-scratch films) – protective wraps and laminates.

Sustainability

  • Extended product life reduces waste from scratched or damaged items.
  • Recyclable carrier resins maintain compatibility with standard recycling streams.
  • Non-toxic formulations suitable for food-contact and consumer applications.
  • Reduced coating or finishing needs, minimizing chemical usage and environmental footprint.
