Polycarbonate Diffused Material

Overview

Polycarbonate diffused material compounds are specialized concentrates designed to enhance light diffusion and uniformity in polycarbonate applications. They enable even light distribution, reduce glare, and maintain mechanical integrity, making them ideal for lighting panels, signage, automotive lighting, and electronic displays. These masterbatches help create consistent optical performance while preserving durability and processability.

Physical & Chemical Properties

  • Active Ingredients: Diffusing agents, opacifiers, or specialized polymers for light scattering.
  • Carrier Resin: Compatible with polycarbonate (PC) and PC blends.
  • Appearance: Free-flowing granules, typically white or off-white.
  • Light Diffusion: Provides uniform scattering, reducing hot spots and glare.
  • Thermal Stability: Suitable for processing temperatures up to 300–320 °C typical for polycarbonate extrusion and molding.
  • Durability: Maintains optical and mechanical performance throughout product lifecycle.

Applications

  • Lighting Panels: LED covers, office lighting, and decorative panels.
  • Automotive: Interior and exterior lighting lenses, diffusers, and signal lights.
  • Signage & Displays: Backlit signs, electronic displays, and advertising panels.
  • Consumer Electronics: Laptops, monitors, smartphones, and home appliances with uniform backlighting.
  • Construction & Architecture: Skylights, partitions, and translucent roofing panels.

Processing Techniques

  • Injection Molding – lighting covers, automotive diffusers, and consumer electronics parts.
  • Extrusion – sheets, panels, and architectural components.
  • Blow Molding – hollow components requiring uniform light diffusion.
  • Co-Extrusion – multilayer panels combining diffusion, UV protection, and color control.

Sustainability

  • Reduces energy usage by enabling more efficient LED and lighting designs.
  • Long-lasting optical quality reduces replacement frequency and material waste.
  • Compatible with recycled polycarbonate for circular economy applications.
  • Non-toxic, eco-friendly formulations suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
  • Improved product lifecycle supports sustainable construction and lighting solutions.
